Mickey & Minnie Wedding Ideas

Combine tradition and creativity with a Disney-themed wedding.

Mickey and Minnie Mouse met in 1928 during their first film, "Plane Crazy." The two have been in love ever since. In addition to serving as icons of the Walt Disney Company and subsequent theme parks, these talking mice are one of cartoon's longest-lasting couples and make a great theme for a wedding.

Location

Plan your Mickey and Minnie wedding or honeymoon at their very birthplace -- Disneyland, Disney World or on a Disney Cruise. You can even say "I do" in front of Sleeping Beauty's or Cinderella's Castle. There are a variety of options at any of the Disney locations, whether you want a small gathering or a large affair. And if you're having it at the park, arrange for Mickey and Minnie mascots to make a guest appearance.

Decorations

Turn your entire wedding theme into a Mickey and Minnie extravaganza, with everything from printed napkins to mouse cake toppers. Many specialty wedding websites offer designed Disney themes, but you can also create your own patterns or prints and custom order them.

One simple idea you can do at home is to blow up Mickey Mouse-shaped balloons and tie them to the backs of guest chairs for seating markers.

Fashion

While you may not want to dress up in a red wedding gown with white polka dots, you can still pay homage to the mouse with a few simple fashionable touches. Wear a large red bow in your hair, styled like Minnie's. The groom can wear a bow tie, featuring Minnie's polka-dot print.

Alternately, save your mousiness for photo time. Give everyone in the bridal party Mickey Mouse hats to wear for some fun photographs.

Guest Favors

Give your guests Mickey- and Minnie-themed party favors. Personalize candy or cookies by using mouse-shaped cookie cutters or candy molds. Prepare your own Mickey and Minnie labels to put on wine bottles or to replace existing food labels. If you are planning on having a photo booth at your reception, talk to the photographer about including a Mickey icon on each picture. Also, supply the photo booth with plenty of Disney paraphernalia, including mouse hats and other fun accessories.
