Make Covered Button Ponytails

Dress up your plain ponytail.

Ponytails have come far from the days of a brush and a rubber band. From the high tail to the cheerleader pony, the big tail or pig tails, today's ponytails come in all shapes and sizes. One aspect has stayed the same -- the fastener that secures the ponytail. Sometimes called hair elastics, hair bands or ponytail holders, these stretchy little rings have big jobs. Spice up your pony or piggies with covered button ponytail holders.

Instructions

1. Use small scraps or cut up larger pieces of fabric.

Select one scrap of fabric for a single covered button or two matching pieces for a set.

2. Use fabric scissors for a clean cut.

Use the circle template from the back of the covered button package to cut your fabric to the right size.

3. Stack the base, the fabric circle and button top in order according to the package directions.

4. Once the fabric is tucked properly into the base, attach the eye back and push the covered button together.

5. Choose covered bands that match your fabric.

Slide one end of the covered hair elastic through the eye back and pull it tightly through the other end of the elastic.
