Put Ribbon Inside A Braid

Braiding with ribbon is simple with the correct materials.

Placing ribbon within a hair braid can be a charming style for all ages. Adding ribbon to the braid can add a pop of color and make the braid appear as if it were woven by a stylist. This is a great idea for girls who are in cheerleading or other sports teams.

Instructions

1. Add detail to a hair style by adding ribbon to the braid.

Choose the preferred method in which to incorporate the ribbon into the braid. This application can be done before or after creating the braid. Select which color ribbon will work best, considering all textured and patterned styles.

2. A woman sections her hair into segments to be braided.

Separate the hair into sections based on the type of braid being made. Knot the ribbon around several strands of hair pushing it to the roots so it is tightly secured in place. Choose a section within the hair where the knot will not be seen. This works best at a section closer to the bottom or behind the ears.

3. A mother braids her daughter's hair with ribbon.

Braid the hair as normally, including the piece of ribbon in one of the three sections. Secure the braid with elastic while cutting any excess ribbon that may have extended longer than the length of the braid.

4. Using a needle to weave through the hair can be a helpful tool.

Apply the ribbon after the hair is braided by weaving it through with a needle. Fix the ribbon to the needle as one would do in sewing. Knot the end of the ribbon (the non needle side) to a section of hair, hiding it from sight. Begin at the top of the braid weaving it through the hair in the chosen pattern. Cut any excess ribbon.

5. A woman practicing hair braiding applies ribbon when it is complete.

Experiment with these braiding techniques until the best method is found. Incorporate different color or textured ribbons based on preference. Apply the techniques to pony tail braids, French braids, or even pigtails for a cool and unique twist to the typical hair braid.
