Lady Gaga Costume Ideas for Kids
You can't think of Lady Gaga without thinking "over-the-top." Her fashion sense and music have inspired many people to create their own Lady Gaga costumes for Halloween and other costume parties. But adults are not the only ones who can enjoy dressing up as Lady Gaga. By adjusting the styles to more appropriate child wear, kids can dress up as one of the singer's many incarnations from her music videos.
Poker Face
In the beginning of Gaga's "Poker Face" video, she wears a black body suit with her hair styled long with flat blonde bangs and a unique style of makeup. To recreate this on your child, simply grab a relatively tight black shirt and black leggings for the outfit. Since only one arm on the shirt has a sleeve, mimic the look by doing some quick cutting and sewing. The most important part is the hair and makeup. Find a platinum blonde wig with thick bangs at the front, and straighten the rest of the hair to match Gaga's look. With a blue eyeliner, create a lightning bolt onto your child's left cheek, framing her lower eyelid. Have your kid slip on some black boots and some fingerless gloves and you're ready for flashing lights.
Bad Romance Monster
Lady Gaga's transformation into a "monster" in this video is good inspiration for a child's costume. To complete the look, all you need is a long-sleeved white shirt and some white leggings. Next, create the crown-looking headdress depicted in the video by gathering up a large piece of white foam and cutting out a crown shape that you can attach at the ends to fit your child's head. To keep it steady, secure some white wrap-around headbands around the base of the hat.
Paparazzi Gaga
Nearing the end of her "Paparazzi" video, Gaga wears a yellow-and-black outfit with a Mickey Mouse print and some unique hair and makeup. To recreate the look, simply gather a yellow long-sleeved shirt and some yellow leggings. Draw onto the pants some Mickey Mouse shapes, with the three circles, using a black fabric marker. Add a black vest. Make the special sunglasses Gaga wears by adding two black circular pieces of plastic to either side of a regular pair of circular-shaped sunglasses. Gather a short blonde wig with bangs and tease the sides, hairspray it, then straighten with a straightener. Create the same lipstick look by applying black lipstick to the middle of your child's mouth, just as in the video.
Telephone Gaga
For Lady Gaga's look in the beginning of the "Telephone" video, gather up some empty soda cans, a leather jacket and a blonde wig. Though the singer's outfit was a bit risque in the video, you can make it more age-appropriate by simply having your child wear a pair of black shorts over some fishnet stockings. Roll the soda cans in the wig like you would hot rollers, gluing them in with super glue. Add some silver rhinestones to the jacket and zip it up. Have your child carry around a black telephone to complete the look.
