The "Psycho" shower scene is hard to forget even though it is over 50 years old.
In 1960, Alfred Hitchcock directed the psychological thriller "Psycho" that would burn itself into the minds of most who watched it. One of the more memorable scenes is when the killer, Norman Bates, stabs a woman to death in the shower. It can be relatively simple and inexpensive to turn this frightening scene into a Halloween costume. A bloodied shower curtain with a knife protruding from it can be a fun costume to wear and scare.
Instructions
1. Drape a clear or light-colored shower curtain over your head and make sure the curtain hangs the same distance to the ground on both sides. Use the scissors to cut out a hole for your head in the middle of the shower curtain. Alternatively, wrap the shower curtain around your body and cut armholes in it, but using clothespins or staples to fasten the shower curtain may not hold up very well.
2. Smeared and bloodied handprints increase the scare factor on any costume.
Take off the shower curtain and lay it flat on top of a plastic drop cloth. Dip your hands in red paint and smear them down the inside of the curtain; make sure to do both the front and back inside sections. Streaks or drips of red paint can also add to the bloody scene.
3. Cut a slit in the front section of the shower curtain and slide the prop knife in from the outside. Once you determine how much of the blade you would like to be showing outside of the curtain, mark that location on the blade and bend the tip sideways from that point.
4. Slide the knife again into the curtain slit and duct tape the bent tip to the inside of the curtain. Make sure you tape it to a painted spot so the shadow of the bent tip won't be visible on the outside of the shower curtain. Add some red paint to the blade to increase the overall effect of your costume.
