Add flowers to the bow for a romantic touch.
Pew bows create an understated touch of decor to your wedding ceremony. They can also serve to differentiate between reserved seating and general seating for your guests. Pew bows provide you with options of which material to use, color, size and whether to add embellishments. Fortunately, making a pew bow will only take about 30 minutes. After you experiment with the first bow, you will make the subsequent bows more quickly.
Instructions
1. Measure and cut 3 yards of ribbon. Measure 8 inches from one end of the ribbon. This will be your tail. If you want the tail longer, add more inches from the end. Hold the ribbon firmly in place with your thumb.
2. Make a 3-inch loop with your free hand where your fingers are pressed down. Press down firmly on the loop with your thumb. Twist the ribbon halfway around your thumb to make the ribbon face up. Place your index finger on top of the ribbon to secure in place.
3. Make a 5- to 6-inch loop. Repeat the process of pressing down on the ribbon, twisting it and keeping the loops secure between your thumb and index fingers. All subsequent loops will also be 5 to 6 inches. If the loops are too large for your taste, make the loops smaller.
4. Continue making loops until you reach the desired look. Fewer loops will take less time to create, while many loops will give a fuller appearance. Place floral wire through your first loop to secure the center of the bow. Twist the floral wire in the back of the bow. Fluff out the loops until you achieve the desired fullness of the bow. The remaining ribbon is your second tail. Cut the tails so that they match. Cut at a slant in a V-shape for a decorative finish.
5. Add desired embellishments to the pew bow. Use a hot glue gun to glue flowers in place. Add decorative berries or greenery. Glue thin ribbon around the back of the bow to tie around the pew or glue the bow to the pew bow holder.
