Make Children'S Hairbows

Hair accessories

Whether you have one daughter or several, it's important to keep plenty of hair clips around the house. Lots of little girls enjoy having many sets of hairbows that match every outfit. To keep your kids stocked up with hair accessories, you can learn to make them at home. Making children's hairbows is a fun project for you and your kids.

Instructions

1. Cut a 4 1/2 inch piece of ribbon, a 3 1/2 inch piece of ribbon and a 1 1/2 inch piece of ribbon. Seal all of the ribbon ends by holding a lit lighter under the ribbon for a brief second while you move the ribbon over the flame. This will seal any frayed edges on the ribbon.

2. Place a bead of glue on the end of the longest piece of ribbon. If your ribbon has a print, place the glue on the back side of the ribbon. Open an alligator clip and press the ribbon against the underside of the top prong of the clip (see Resources below for a visual).

3. Let the clip close and fold the ribbon back over the top of the top prong. Use a bead of glue to glue the ribbon in place. Take the remainder of that piece of ribbon and glue it to the insides of the clip opener (the place that you pinch the clip together to open it). Place a bead of glue on the remainder of the ribbon and glue it to the back part of the clip.

4. Place a bead of glue at the tip of the 3 1/2 inch piece of ribbon on one end. Make a circle by gluing the other end of the ribbon to it. Hold the ribbon with the glued piece at the bottom of the circle. Place a bead of glue on the inside of the circle where the ribbon is glued together and press the top of the circle to the glue to create a bow.

5. Place a bead of glue on the back of the bow where the seam is and press it onto the top of the alligator clip. Open the clip and place a bead of glue in the center of the inside of the clip. Place the remaining piece of ribbon on the glue and wrap the ribbon around the center of the bow on the other side of the clip. Place another bead of glue in the center of the inside of the clip and adhere the end of the ribbon that has been wrapped around the bow.
